Fortifying Families Webinar Series [Ep. 7] | Families and Domestic Violence
In 2011, the Council of Europe drafted a human rights treaty against violence against women and domestic violence, now known as the Istanbul Convention. The four pillars of this convention focus on preventing domestic violence, protecting victims, prosecuting offenders, and co-ordinated policies among different bodies. During this past year, the world has seen an uptick in domestic violence as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Using the Istanbul convention as a backdrop, panelists in this episode will focus on how the COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated the issue, what organizations and governments can do to protect the most vulnerable, and what we as individuals and family members can do to protect and strengthen those we know.

The panel will be in English and will run approximately 45 minutes. Live interpretation will be offered in French and Spanish. You will need to update or download the free Zoom application to select language channels.

We encourage active participation from the attendees. If you wish to do so, please use the space provided on the registration form, or use the Q&A tool during the webinar, to suggest questions for our guest speakers.
